19 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

HIGH ON FIRE – “COMETH THE STORM”

SWEET PILL – “STARCHILD” EP MUSIC VIDEO

Not a new song, but Sweet Pill have made a music video for their entire great new EP Starchild.

LIONLIMB – “DREAM OF YOU” FT ANGEL OLSEN

“Our new song ‘Dream of You’ featuring the astonishing Angel Olsen is out today. I wrote it about my dog I lost two years ago,” says Stewart Bronaugh, aka Lionlimb. “I was having a recurring dream that he was still alive and I got to hug and kiss and smell him again. It was so realistic and though the song may not reflect it, it was the happiest feeling ever.” New Lionlimb album Limbo is out May 24 via Bayonet.

PARSNIP – “THE BABBLE”

“I wanted ‘The Babble’ to sound like a ‘Dead End Street’ style Kinks song,” says Parsnip’s Stella Rennex. “However, a few people have commented that it sounds like a Dandy Warhols riff which I don’t mind because I am a fan. I also asked Mikey to take it in the direction of the outro of ‘7 and 7 Is’ by Love and he did a great job, the explosion preceding a little ditty played inside a tin can floating out to sea.” Parsnip’s new album Behold is out April 26 via Upset the Rhythm.

SUKI WATERHOUSE – “FADED” & “MY FUN”

Ahead of her Coachella set this weekend, Suki Waterhouse shared two new singles, both of which will appear on a new album set for release later this year, details tba. “We went with a vibrant, fun, and choppy card cut stop motion animated style for these two videos, inspired by Monty Python and other great cut-out animators,” Callum Scott-Dyson, who did the stop motion animation visuals for the accompanying videos. “I really enjoyed making them and working with Suki. The songs had a nice differentiation in vibe, so I went with super saturated and bright for ‘My Fun;’ and then a little more washed out for ‘Faded.’”

FOREST SWORDS – “TORCH” / “PEARL OF HAIL”

Forest Swords (aka British electronic producer Matthew Barnes) is back with this new two-track single. Both “Torch” and “Pearl of Hail” are moody, atmospheric vibe excercises, and skilled ones at that.

JD PINKUS (BUTTHOLE SURFERS) – “CHARMER”

JD Pinkus, who’s played in Butthole Surfers and Melvins, has a new solo album, Grow a Pear, due out June 7 via Shimmy-Disc. “‘Grow A Pear’ has been in the works for 5 years,” Pinkus says. “What started as my contributions for the ‘new’ Butthole Surfers’ album that was not to be‚ turned into a solo album I recorded with contributions from some of my favorite flavor players to create an album that most represents where I came from and bridges to where I’m at right now. My wishes for the future, is that everyone in the world will finally ‘Grow A Pear’.”
