Watch Liam Gallagher & John Squire play “I’m a Wheel” on Fallon

Britpop vets Liam Gallagher (ex-Oasis) and John Squire (ex-Stone Roses) are in NYC this week to play their first-ever North American show as a duo in support of their self-titled debut album, and they stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night. Backed by a band that included drummer Joey Waronker, bassist Barrie Cadogan (Little Barrie), and keyboardist Chris Madden, Liam and John performed the bluesy “I’m a Wheel,” and they sounded great. Watch video of that below.

Liam & John play NYC’s Brooklyn Paramount on Thursday (4/11) with John-Robert opening. It’s their only North American show as of now.

In other news, Oasis reunion rumors continue to swirl, and Ride’s Andy Bell, who played bass in Oasis from 1999-2009, was asked in an interview on Virgin Radio (ostensibly about Ride’s new album) if he thought Liam and Noel would reunite. “I’m gonna say a qualified yeah, I think they will at the end of the day,” Bell said. “I don’t think it looks likely right now but I think life is long, innit?”

Liam responded to his former bandmate on Twitter, saying “Andy bell from ride the shoe gazing phenomenon should really not be getting people’s hopes up it’s not big and and it’s not clever LG x.” When someone replied to Gallagher, saying, “He’s just saying what you’ve said a million times already Rasta,” Liam replied, “I’ve never mentioned oasis reunion it’s over we must all really move in for our own mental health.” There you have it, for now.
